The rapper Yella Beezy was arrested after allegedly assaulting a woman at his home, multiple outlets report. The rapper, whose real name is Kyle Darnell Warren, was identified in a police complaint by the victim as a man. When Houston police officers arrived at his Lakewood home on Monday night, they found the 28-year-old next to two guns, which are now considered evidence, and arrested him on a felony charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Yella Beezy, whose real name is Kyle Darnell Warren, was identified in a police complaint by the victim as a man. The alleged assault took place at a hotel.
In an interview with BuzzFeed, the woman said she had been drinking with Yella Beezy for hours at a Houston hotel before they decided to go back to his condo. “He had a phone on him and the girl tried to charge it and I didn’t,” the alleged victim said. “I was down there for about 90 minutes and it kept going on and on. I just fell asleep. He was constantly looking through the camera.”
When the alleged victim was still feeling ill, the rapper reportedly grabbed her from behind and put her in a chokehold. The alleged victim said her “neck felt like it was caved in.”
“He would just hit me over and over,” she said. “I really didn’t know what was going on. He hit me over the face, I had bruises on my face.”
The alleged victim alleges that she tried to escape but the rapper blocked her door, forcing her to sit on the floor and squirm. The woman alleges that the rapper threatened to kill her if she showed police his fingerprints and told her to write a statement denying any physical altercation.
The incident report filed by police noted that the rapper was also nude and was found to have a cocaine pipe and weed on him.
While Yella Beezy has not yet been arraigned on any charges in his case, he did tweet about being “thrown in jail” on Tuesday, hours after the arrest.
