In 1976, the American actor and comedian Rich Paul — better known as “Rich Paul” — grew tired of his suburban life in Dayton, Ohio.
He announced he was quitting show business and moving to Rome, Italy, to buy a 99-year lease on a vineyard, which he described as “the greatest investment you could ever make.”
This dream never came to fruition. The Wall Street Journal revealed that Paul’s dream also involved a Ponzi scheme.
So, Paul used his easygoing charm and decent looks to boost attendance at his business lunches, for which he would invite Hollywood megastars Adele, and her agent, Barry Lynn.
This led to a first meeting, where Paul told her about the breakup of her marriage to Paul Newman. She realized it was the perfect opportunity to redeem herself as a movie star, as one of Hollywood’s most eligible bachelors.
Fast forward to 2013, and Adele was sitting in Paul’s San Miguel Valley vineyard in Spain. He was suffering a serious heart attack, and she couldn’t wait to help him out.
